Auto compass for mirror?
I saw a compass which attached to the existing auto mirror in an airline magazine. I am unable to locate a source. Can someone help?
Just about any auto parts store has them. However most I have checked are VERY inaccurate. I suspect you have to pay $50 or more to get a good one. Many newer cars incorporate a clock and compass via leds inside the mirror. Its cool!

Volvo Mirrors Reflect Road Safety
Risks in driving start as one goes out of the garage and into the street. Accidents are very hard to avoid, that is why there are certain rules and regulations a driver must follow to ensure his and his passengers' safety as well as the other motorists’. Meanwhile, car companies continuously enhance their vehicles' safety features, too. Before the technological advancements in safety motorists have today, basic safety precautions were used. One example is the car mirrors. The Swedish car maker, Volvo, makes sure that its vehicles are equipped with the right type of Volvo mirrors to help drivers gain additional visibility.
Volvo mirrors give drivers that extra visibility they need to see what is coming in their path. Depending on the angle of the mirror's curve, a Volvo mirror reflects anything that is within its scope. It is essential for a vehicle for safety reasons. It provides the driver the exact situation of the traffic, giving him the chance to do the appropriate move while on the road. There are various kinds of mirrors that are installed in a car. Among them are the towing mirrors, automatic dimming rearview mirrors, side mirrors, wide-angle mirrors, and power mirrors. All of them provide different services for different purposes. Volvo mirrors help drivers as they change lanes, make turns, back up, and park. Some women drivers and passengers even look at them at times to apply makeup and do retouch.
With all the features and gadgets car makers include in a car, they should never neglect the standard mirrors. Fortunately, mirrors have been developed with a number of safety innovations available today. In fact, automatic dimming sets the rear view mirrors to night mode when they sense bright lights reflected on them. Some mirrors can actually provide the temperature readout. A compass in digitized form can also be flashed on the mirrors. Some side mirrors act as signal lights, showing arrows visible enough for all the drivers behind to see.
