Silver hallmarks - I have a hand held mirror with hallmarks BPDC with anchor, lion and a small e -?
Could anyone please help identify these hallmarks - they are on a hand held mirror with the faces of either angels with wings or cherubs on the back. Found in my gran's attic, it looks extremely old! Thank you.
Assay office stamp Hallmarks
Birmingham - Anchor
Standard Mark
Lion Passant: Sterling .925
Date Letter
e - More difficult to tie down as there are many small 'e' date letters, however it will be 1802, 1879 or 1904 dependent on the exact style. Go to the first link provided and check which one it is.
Maker's Mark:
BPDC ? The second link is to a forum for identifying unknown maker's marks. From the list I have seen I was unable to match yours, but this was a limited list.
