How to make curved mirrors?
I'm doing a project for physics, I'm supposed to make models of curved reflectors (mirrors). I was wondering how I could make the frame, I 'm deciding to use mylar for the reflective part. Anyone help?.. Thanks
You should use something easy to carve or sandpaper like modeling Styrofoam. Insulation foam like the blue and pink stuff at Home Depot works, but you have to sand carefully or else it balls up. Even if you get imperfections like gouges or pits, you could fill them in with lightweight spackle or drywall repair compound. You don't have to make the mirrors perfect parabolas, just give the viewer the impression of a convex or concave mirror.
