Death Of 13-Year-Old Pedestrian Not Linked To Hit And Run According To Police
This accident occurred in Brentwood, where it was first believed that two motorists fled the scene of the accident. It was later discovered that the motorists did not leave the scene, and in fact stayed with the girl until help arrived. Apparently, the girl had been brushed by the side view mirror of one of the vehicles, which led to her losing her balance and falling into the path of the other car which was moving. Police were first led to look for vehicles matching the descriptions given by witnesses, and later discovered that they did not leave the scene. This was simply a tragic accident, and it looks as though neither of the drivers will be charged.
Accidents involving pedestrians are often fatal, and result in serious injuries at the least. California pedestrian accident lawyers known that pedestrians who are struck by cars are often traumatized, and are at high risk of having head and spine injuries. Unfortunately, California does not have a good reputation when it comes to being a pedestrian friendly state. This comes as no surprise either to pedestrians or pedestrian accident attorneys in California. Our sunny state does have the perfect climate for those who enjoy walking, bicycling and riding motorcycles, but motorists seem to believe they are the only ones with rights when it comes to the roads.
Several California cities were named last year in a study done by Transportation for American as some of the most deadliest for pedestrians in the country. For the most part, pedestrian accidents can be attributed to motorists who don't pay much attention as they approach crosswalks, or simply fail to yield to them as they should. Whatever the reason, the pedestrian is the one who suffers serious injury or even death. Every motorist should look out for pedestrians when approaching a crosswalk, and not feel as though they are doing the person a favor by slowing down or stopping. Countless times, motorists have struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk and then proceeded to drive away, which is very frustrating to Los Angeles accident lawyers who believe this kind of thing happens much too frequently.
