Why do people try to hit or scare motorcycle riders in heavy traffic?

Here is the scenario:
You are in heavy traffic, cars are stopped or barely moving. In your mirror, you spot a motorcycle cruising along between the stopped cars. After it passes you, the car in front of you swerves towards the lane divider in order to either scare or try to hit him. WHY DO PEOPLE DO THIS?!?

I have seen this a few times but have yet to actually see someone get hit. I know some people with motorcycles and they say this happens all the time. I want to get a motorcycle too but don't want to get hit. Can anyone explain why people do this? If they are jealous, why don't they swerve into cars passing them in the carpool lane?
I am in CA by the way, where "lane splitting" is perfectly legal.

Why? People hate being courteous, that's why. It's not because motorcycle riders have done anything wrong, it's because people have the mindset that motorcycle riders are doing something cocky or superior.
People dwell in the past, thinking of media-induced ideals like motorcycle gangs and bad-arses. There's no getting around it. (I'm a goth, and thus am treated the same way.)
Or maybe it's just because if you're on two wheels, they think you deserve it. I've seen people do this to regular bikers, too.
It's sick, and I will always dislike people who do it.
It's just a way of getting around. Yes, bikes cost a lot these days, but get over it people! They are not doing it to show off their money; it's just a love, like owning a pet or cooking or driving a stick-shift.
I back you on this. You really should be able to get a bike and not have to worry about getting hit by a car. I seriously apologize for this kind of behavior. And for the first response you received. It's highly inappropriate.

Plastic Chrome Paint?

I want to make my motorcycle windshield chrome. There are several people I know that have used black plastic paint, painted the back of the shield and it makes it look tinted from the front. I want to do the same thing but with chrome paint. So it looks mirrored from the front. Any one know of a chrome plastic paint?

There are several metallic paints and one made for kids car models that is very chromy looking. I don't know if it is made by Testors or not.

I think the trouble you will find is that most of them will simply look gray if seen by looking through the plexy from the other side. I also believe that most of these adhere best to a primer and require a top clear coat to keep from oxidizing (dulling), so I don't know how well they will hold up to the weather sprayed directly onto the plexy.

You can actually have plastic chromed, if money is not an issue. It could be dipped to cause a gradation or it could be an abrupt line where the chrome frame will meet it.

The chrome model paint might be cheap enough to try on a piece of scrap plexy and leave it out in the rain for a while to see how it holds up.

Have you thought about reflective window film like people use on their car windows? Don't know if the wind would peel up the edges or not.

Does all the drivel that PMF HD William yaps about make anyone else as sick as it does me?

I have met a few people that are in love with themselves but i swear he must get up at crack of dawn so he can admire himself in the mirror for an hour or two before work.He thinks he's real "biker", but he wouldn't make a pimple on a real bikers butt.With people like him running loose is it any wonder so many people hate Harley riders?

can a 2005 ford explorer tow a u-haul trailer?

i need to move things into my apartment about 1hr15mins away and can't afford a truck, have the 4x4 awd model

U-haul website says for an 8'x5' trailer need:

Must be equipped with a hard top if it is an SUV. U-Haul does not allow any type of sport-utility vehicle not equipped with a hard top to tow U-Haul equipment.
Must weigh at least 2,700 lbs. (curb weight)
Must have Class 1 tow hitch (2,000 lb. minimum weight-carrying rating)
Must have 1-7/8", 2" or 2-1/8" hitch ball (2,000 lbs. minimum)
Must not exceed maximum allowable hitch ball height 25"
Must have external mirrors on both sides
Must have fully operational lighting
Trailer lighting must be operational at all times, day and night
Maximum recommended speed is 45 MPH

does my vehicle meet these? sooo lost...

It's my understanding that U-Haul has a no Explorer tow policy.
Check out Budget, Ryder or any other rental places in your area - you'll find that they aren't as anal as U-Haul.

Which motorcycle??????

Ok I have been riding on my Ninja 250R for a while now. It's time for an upgrade. Which bike is cheaper for parts? Side Panels, Mirrors, etc.... The honda CBR600RR, Yamaha R6, or the Suzuki GXSR 600.

The Honda CBR600RR is seriously everywhere! It is mass produced, however, it is extremely easy to find replacement parts. You can even find them in junkyards!

If you want additional parts to enhance the bike, you can also get better deals on it online. You can also cross parts with the CBR... parts that weren't necessarily made for the Honda will fit the Honda.... its a great feature

When you want to trade up or get a cruiser after the Honda, it holds its value the best too for resale.
