motorcycle mirror mount thread worn out, how to use it again ?
My xj 650's right mirror mount thread is worn out and now I cannot put the mirror. For now I can ride around but cops are not happy
. Do not want to buy the whole brake mount as a as the right mirror mount is attached to it. Is there anyway I can repair it? Thanks
You can get an aftermarket mirror mount that will sit inboard of the brake perch. This figures to be the best option. There is often not enough meat around the original threads to support a helicoil or timesert, the first thing that comes to mind. You could try filling the hole with JB Weld, re-drill and tap for the mirror. JB Weld is pretty good stuff, but that is not its best application.
